Edinburgh International Science Festival:
Angela Melitopoulos, Researcher in Residence
17 Apr 2019
Collective is delighted to be participating in the 2019 Edinburgh International Science Festival. Join us for a series of events which investigate lenses; instruments that correct and expand the frontiers of vision, focus light to form images and (re)produce our perception of the world around us.
Join Collective's 2019 researcher-in-residence, artist and filmmaker Angela Melitopoulos as she explores the complex relationships between vision and understanding, perception and memory in this public lecture.
Born in Munich in 1961, artist Angela Melitopoulos was introduced to video by Nam June Paik before going on to study the relationship between image making, time, memory and geography. Her artworks are based on extensive research involving collaboration with sociologists, political theorists and others. As Collective's Researcher in Residence in 2019, Angela will research the use of lens-based and digital media to narrate and destabilise geopolitical history.
